Very good delivery, all went super smooth, I received a beautiful tree, first time I used Sapins.be, will definitely use it again.
The real Nordmann fir Christmas tree is our customers' favourite natural Christmas tree: soft needles that stay on, a neat conical shape and a deep, glossy green. At Sapins.be, it is cut from 20 November, available from 100 to 300 cm and delivered to your door anywhere in Belgium on the date of your choice. Below you will find everything you need to choose the right size and stand, set it up, decorate it and keep it looking good through the holidays. See our full range of Nordmann Christmas trees.
Why choose a real Nordmann fir?
The Nordmann is the best-selling Christmas tree at Sapins.be. Here is why:
Freshly cut. Our trees are never cut before 20 November, so they reach you at their best.
Needles that stay on. Flat, soft and hardly prickly, they stay on the branches for a long time. Fewer needles on the floor, less cleaning.
Easy to decorate. Its pyramid shape and clearly spaced tiers leave room for baubles and lights, and its sturdy branches hold decorations without bending.
Full and even. Its slow growth gives a dense tree with no gaps, attractive from every side.
A deep green. The needles are dark, glossy green on top, with two fine silvery lines underneath.
A subtle scent. Ideal for a flat, an office, a shop or a restaurant.
The Nordmann, the Caucasian fir
The Nordmann fir (Abies nordmanniana) comes from the Caucasus mountains, between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, hence its other name: the Caucasian fir. It is named after the Finnish botanist Alexander von Nordmann, who described it in the 19th century. In the wild it can grow into a very tall tree. As a Christmas tree, it is tended for years to achieve the regular conical shape people expect.
It grows slowly: it takes eight to ten years to grow a Nordmann of 175 to 200 cm. The tree you put up this Christmas was planted almost a decade ago and looked after season after season.
A Nordmann tree grown in Belgium
For a long time, Denmark dominated Nordmann growing. Since 2007, Sapins.be has been developing Nordmann growing in Belgium with a trusted grower, who applies our strict selection to every tree ordered. Today, almost all our Nordmann trees are grown in Belgium. A tree grown close to home travels less and can be cut later, closer to delivery.
How to recognise a good Nordmann tree
Not all Nordmann trees are equal. Here is what we check on every tree before it is delivered:
A conical shape, wide at the base and narrow at the top, with no flat side.
Even tiers, well spaced, with no gaps in the foliage.
A straight leader at the top, so your tree topper sits easily.
Soft, glossy needles that bend without snapping and don't drop when you shake a branch.
A straight trunk, pale and still moist where it was cut: the sign of a freshly cut tree.
A tree cut too early and stored for weeks loses these qualities before it even reaches your living room. That is why we never cut our Nordmann trees before 20 November.
What size Nordmann tree should I choose?
Allow 20 to 30 cm between the top of the tree and the ceiling for the topper and the stand. Height is measured from the bottom of the trunk to the tip. Think about width too: a 2 m Nordmann is about one metre wide at the base.

In 2025, nearly a third of the natural trees delivered by Sapins.be were between 175 and 200 cm tall. Need a Nordmann tree over 3 m for a hall, a shop window or an event? See our large Nordmann tree. Prefer a living Nordmann with its roots? Choose the potted Nordmann tree.
No stand, wooden cross or water stand?
No stand: you use your own.
On a wooden cross (40 x 40 cm): the tree arrives mounted and ready to decorate. Simple and stable, but the trunk is not in water.
With a reusable water stand: the trunk stands in water, so the tree stays fresh for longer. The best choice if you put your tree up at the end of November, and you can use it again every year. Also sold separately: water stand for a natural tree.
Real Nordmann tree delivery anywhere in Belgium
You choose your delivery date when you order, up to 20 December. Brussels and both Brabant provinces are delivered Monday to Saturday, Wallonia on Mondays and Wednesdays, Flanders on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Your tree arrives wrapped in a net, which makes it easier to carry through doors and up stairs. Delivery costs are shown at checkout. All the details are in our delivery terms and on our Christmas tree delivery in Brussels page.
You can also pay with your eco-vouchers (Edenred, Monizze, Pluxee).
When should I order my Nordmann tree?
The earlier you order, the more choice you have, especially in the larger sizes. At Sapins.be, half of all natural trees were delivered in November in 2025, and the week of 24 to 30 November was the busiest of the season. Trees over 200 cm become scarce from the first week of December. You can order now and pick a later delivery date: your tree will not be cut before 20 November anyway. More figures in our Christmas tree barometer 2026.
How to set up your Nordmann tree
Choose the spot before delivery: somewhere stable, away from radiators, stoves, fireplaces and direct sunlight.
If you are not putting it up straight away, leave it in its net somewhere cool and sheltered: a terrace, garage or cellar.
With a water stand, cut a few centimetres off the bottom of the trunk just before setting it up: it will drink much better.
Remove the net in place, once the tree is standing, cutting from the bottom up.
Let the branches settle for a few hours before decorating: they will return to their natural shape.
How to decorate a Nordmann tree
Its sturdy, well-tiered branches make the Nordmann ideal for decorating. Always start with the lights, working from the bottom, from the inside of the branches outwards. Then add the large baubles near the trunk and towards the bottom, the smaller ones towards the top, and finish with the topper. Our detailed tips: how to put lights on a Christmas tree.
No time to match everything? Our Christmas tree decoration kits bring together coordinated baubles, stars and ribbons, sized for your Nordmann. For lighting, choose our LED Christmas tree lights, which barely warm the branches. And for a snowy look, discover the flocked Nordmann tree, a real natural Nordmann with a white or coloured flocking.
How long does a Nordmann tree last?
Delivered at the end of November and well looked after, your cut Nordmann tree stays beautiful until after New Year. Here is what to do:
Water it regularly. In the first days, a cut tree can drink up to a litre of water a day: check the water level every day and never let the trunk dry out.
Keep it cool. A less heated room makes it last longer.
Keep it away from heat: radiators, stoves, fireplaces, halogen spotlights.
Switch the lights off when you leave the room or the house.
To take it out without leaving needles in the house or the car, use a Christmas tree bag.
With its subtle scent, regular shape and heights up to 3 m, the Nordmann is also the tree for reception areas, offices, hotels and shop windows. For several trees, an extra-tall tree or bespoke decoration, see our Christmas decoration for professionals or ask for a quote for a large tree.
What to do with your Nordmann tree after Christmas?
Most Belgian municipalities organise a Christmas tree collection in January: trees are shredded and turned into compost or mulch. Remove all decorations, hooks and lights before putting it out, and check the dates with your municipality. Find out more: what happens to your Christmas tree after the holidays?
Frequently asked questions about the Nordmann tree
How much does a Nordmann tree cost?
At Sapins.be, a cut natural Nordmann costs from €69 (100–125 cm) to €199 (250–300 cm), without stand. Our most popular size, 175–200 cm, is €104. Delivery costs are shown at checkout.
When is my tree cut?
Never before 20 November. If you order earlier, your tree is reserved and delivered on the date you choose.
Until when do you deliver?
Until 20 December, anywhere in Belgium, on the date you choose when ordering.
Does a Nordmann tree drop its needles?
Very little. With water, a cool room and no direct heat, it keeps most of its needles until after the holidays.
Does a Nordmann tree have a strong scent?
Its scent is light. That is an advantage if you are sensitive to smells or if the tree is going in a workplace.
Are your Nordmann trees Belgian?
Yes, almost all our Nordmann trees are grown in Belgium, by a grower we have worked with for years.
Can I pay with eco-vouchers?
Yes: Edenred, Monizze and Pluxee are accepted.
Any other question? See our FAQ or contact us: we will get back to you quickly.
Eleven years of care before Christmas
A two-metre Nordmann doesn't happen by chance. Here is the journey it makes before it reaches your living room.
3 years · 30 cm
Planted in widely spaced rows, so every tree has room to grow.
6 years · 80 cm
Pruned season after season for an even, conical shape and dense foliage.
8 years · 150 cm
Only the finest trees are kept and followed through to harvest.
11 years · 240 cm
Freshly cut, ready to stay beautiful all through December.
Keeping it fresh through the holidays
Water it every day. Use a stand with a water reservoir and check the level morning and evening, especially the first week.
Keep it away from heat. Not next to a radiator, stove or fireplace.
Trim the base. Cut 2 cm off the trunk just before putting it in water.
Soft needles. The Nordmann doesn't prick and holds its needles when well watered.
