Norway spruce Christmas trees

Sapins.be offers premium cut spruce Christmas trees. In Belgium this tree needs no introduction: the Norway spruce (Picea abies) is the traditional Christmas tree of the Belgian Ardennes, the one our parents and grandparents grew up with. The Danish Nordmann has gained ground in recent years, but nothing rivals the spruce on one point — its scent. That deep, resinous forest smell fills the room the moment the tree comes indoors.

Why choose a natural spruce Christmas tree

Every spruce we deliver meets the same standards:

• Ultra fresh. Our spruces are never cut before 20 November.
• 100% Belgian, grown in the Ardennes.
• Full and even. Well furnished from base to tip, with no gaps and no bare leader — a quality requirement we set with our growers.
• Classic conical shape with a straight leader, whether small or large.
• A genuine forest scent, the strongest of any Christmas tree.
• Sturdy branches that carry your ornaments without drooping.
• Competitively priced. The spruce remains the most affordable natural tree.
• Deep green, with needles all around the branch and reddish-brown twigs.

One honest caveat: spruce drops its needles faster than Nordmann. Stand it in a water-holding base, keep the reservoir topped up and keep it away from radiators, and it will look its best right through the holidays. If you would rather not sweep up needles at all, choose the Nordmann instead.

Spruce and Sapins.be

Sapins.be specialises in the sale and delivery of Christmas trees. We select our growers carefully and hold them to strict quality standards. Many customers — private households and businesses alike — have been coming back to us for years. Spruce remains one of the best-selling Christmas trees in Europe.

A footnote for the curious: in Greek mythology the spruce is sacred to Artemis, goddess of the hunt and protector of childbirth. That is why it is known as the tree of birth — tradition holds that a spruce is planted for every newborn child.
